Driving Directions
For a weekend section hike, you may want to bring two vehicles to the trail so that you can shuttle
yourselves from one end of your chosen section to the other. First, you will need to park your
“finish hike vehicle” at your section’s northern terminus and then drive your “start hike vehicle” down
to your section’s southern terminus.

Northern Terminus / Park Finish Hike Vehicle First
334.9 ~ BENTON MACKAYE TRAIL
    From the junction of US 76 and GA 5 in Blue Ridge, GA, go north on GA 5 for 3.8 miles to old
    Hwy 2. Turn left.
    Go 9.9 miles to Watson Gap and veer left at fork.  (Pavement ends after 8.8 miles.)
    At gap, continue 3.1 more miles to Dyer Gap. The Dyer Mountain Cemetary marks the parking area.
    The parking area is on the right.


Southern Terminus / Park Start Hike Vehicle
331.8 ~ BUDDY COVE GAP TRAILHEAD
    From the Dyer Gap parking area, go left on FS 64 for 3.2 miles to Buddy Cove Gap.
    When FS 64 swings to left in the gap, the road to the Buddy Cove Gap Trailhead parking area
    is straight ahead, uphill.

    The north trail begins at the trailhead parking area.
332.3 ~ TRAIL SPLITS
    Take the left fork.
334.0 ~ SPRING CROSSING ~ 2610’ ~ SW
334.6 ~ SOUTH FORK TRAIL
    Intersect with the South Fork Trail. Turn hard right and follow the South Fork Trail.
334.7 ~ SOUTH FORK OF JACKS RIVER ~ 2500' ~ RW
    Ford the South Fork of the Jacks River.
334.9 ~ BENTON MACKAYE TRAIL ~ (Photo)
    This is the northern terminus of the Pinhoti Trail.
    Go right on the Benton MacKaye Trail for 2.2 miles to the Dyer Gap Parking Area.
