Outdoor enthusiasts have long challenged themselves on the Appalachian Trail. But the full length
of the mountain chain has never been linked -- until now. More than 80 years after Appalachian Trail
founder Benton MacKaye envisioned a path extending "south to Alabama," his dream has become a reality. Alabama's storied
Pinhoti National Recreation Trail now connects to the Appalachian Trail, giving hikers the first-ever opportunity to walk
the entire ancient Appalachian range.
