The Pinhoti Trail
A Southeast Region Appalachian Trail Connector

HMTC Activities

The Horn Mountain Trail Club "Adopt a Trail" members spend quality time
every September and June clearing their adopted 2 miles on Section 4 of
the Pinhoti Trail. The dates for these work trips are chosen by the individual
members at their convenience and are either solo trips or with friends.

Also from September until June, the HMTC meets as a group to work on community
projects in Section 4 and these gatherings occur on the 2nd Saturday of each of these
months.

We meet at the Porter's Gap Trailhead at 9am. The trailhead is 8.9 miles east of
Talladega on AL 77. Look for the USFS parking area on the left, just past the 55 mile
marker.

Bring a day pack with work gloves, rain gear, long sleeve synthetic shirt, any other warm
clothing you may need and a garbage bag to keep it all dry. Also pack a lunch, snacks and
plenty of water. If you have a pair of loppers (brush cutting) or a small digging tool (rock
removal), then bring those along too.

Membership is not required to participate, so if you've got some spare time, come on out
and spend a day in the woods with us!
