Welcome to the Pinhoti Trail
Pin-hoe-tee ~ A 325 Mile Southeast
Region Appalachian Trail Connector

Out beyond the lights of town lies a land
of intense wonder and beauty and it is
surprisingly easy for you to step into this
world. It's like you've always lived here
but just stepped out for a minute or two.
Your ancestors were born here, lived here
and died here. Welcome Home!

You may see others out here like yourself:
Hikers out for some quiet time, Trail Clubs
keeping the trails cleared for others to
enjoy, or the Forest Service restoring and
maintaining ecosystems and wildlife
habitats.

The Pinhoti is a premier
southern
Appalachian
long distance hiking trail.

The trails northern terminus is in north
west Georgia, near the town of Blue Ridge,
where it intersects around mile 70 of the
Benton MacKaye Trail.

Hiking east 70 miles on the BMT will put
you at Springer Mountain, the southern
terminus of the famous Appalachain Trail.

The trails southern terminus is in east
central Alabama at Flagg Mountain, near the
town of Weogulfga, which is known for being
the southernmost Appalachian mountain that
rises above 1000 feet.

Our main project here at the PTA is to
provide highly detailed northbound trail
guides, trail access info and current trail
updates for hikers of all ages and
experience levels who are interested in
hiking the Pinhoti.

You will also find over 600 Pinhoti links and
photo links scattered about this 129 page
web site. This ongoing project is very
cleverly designed to invoke deeply personal
attachments to the Pinhoti and thereby lure
a few unsuspecting hikers into the REALLY
fascinating world of
trail stewardship  : )

Happy Trails!
