Pinhoti Trail Maps
USFS Topo Maps / Alabama Section In July of 2014, the Forest Service published a new map for the Pinhoti Trail in Alabama. You heard right - just 1 map, as opposed to five huge maps! Cool huh?
You can pick up the maps at: Cheaha State Park ~ 256-488-5111 USFS office in Talladega ~ 256-362-2909 USFS office in Heflin ~ 256-463-2272 USFS HQ in Montgomery ~ 334-832-4470
USFS Alabama Topo Map Coverage Guide This map includes all of the sections within the Talladega National forest: Sections 3 thru 12. The Forest Service has not made maps for Sections 1 and 2 or 13 thru 31.
If you can enlarge this map enough, the Pinhoti is a dotted line that begins below Cheaha State Park at Clairmont Gap, today's mile 61.2, and travels north to Coleman Lake Trailhead, today's mile 127.7, for a total distance of 66.5 miles.
My brother and I hiked the Pinhoti for the first time in the late 70's. We hiked the "complete" Pinhoti Trail from Clairmont Gap to Coleman Lake.
